Upon the request of potential conference participants, the Organizing Committee of the Fourth International Conference on Law, Language and Discourse would like to announce its decision of extending the deadline of Abstract Submission from January 31, 2014 to March 31, 2014 due to the Chinese Spring Feistival and the past Christmas.

Thank you for your attention and we welcome your contribution to this important event to be held in Xian, China in October 2014.

The First Announcement

This conference invites theoretical studies, case analysis, and relevant work-in-progress papers on the key issues in legal language and legal discourse, promotes research of, and welcomes participation from, researchers of different cultural and language backgrounds from different disciplines and across jurisdictions. All topics of forensic linguistics/language and law include but not limited to the following 10 strands:

1. Legal Culture, Law and Philosophy, Logic
2. Language Planning,Legislative Language, Judicial Language
3. Theoretical Study on Forensic Linguistics & Application
4. Legal Languages, Legal English, Legal Chinese
5. Legal Discourse, Legal Semiotics, and Corpus Linguistics
6. Courtroom Interpreting and Translating
7. Expert Witness and Linguistic Evidence
8. Interpretation and Analysis of Legal Documents
9. Authorship/Speaker Identification
10. Teaching of Language and Law, Legal Exchange and Cooperation

 

Call for papers
Abstracts and full papers will be sent to the Organizing Committee (xian2014lawconf@outlook.com). All accepted full papers (6 pages) will be included in the indexed (CPCI-SSH) Proceedings of LLD4. Selected peer-reviewed papers (5000-8000 words) will be invited for publication in 3 special issues in International Journal of Law, Language & Discourse, International Journal for the Semiotics of Law, and International Journal of Legal English.

Notification of acceptance: April 30, 2014
Registration: March 1 - April 30, 2014
Full paper (6 pages) submission (optional): May 31, 2014
